Hi! I’m Jenn Patterson. I’m an artist, web manager, and communications specialist.

I started working in communications at Wabash College’s Center of Inquiry in the Liberal Arts. My curiosity led me to a post-grad program in student research at the University of Iowa’s College of Education. Along the way, I realized I liked writing about research more than conducting it and started working part-time as a feature writer for the Institute of Clinical and Translational Science (the University of Iowa’s largest NIH grant at the time). They quickly allowed me to spread my wings as their communications specialist and web manager, a job I enjoyed but eventually grew out of. I went across the road to the College of Public Health. I was assistant editor for the Journal of Environmental and Occupational Hygiene, where I was quickly picked to take over communications and, soon thereafter, the center’s research coordinator role. I loved informing farmers and their supporters about safety research, but I got promoted to working on grant writing and reporting rather than features. Now, I’m seeking a more creative role where my skills can shine.
